Teak Asia

The Teak is a tropical tree native to South-East Asia, which came to Europe at the start of the 20th Century when its properties were discovered to be particularly suitable for the ship-building industry. The Teak tree belongs to the Verbenaceae family. It has a majestic trunk, straight and cylindrical, and can grow to 30-40 metres in height. The wood contains an aromatic oily resin that makes it very resistant and disliked by termites. Teak wood has a particularly variegated colour, going from pale yellow to bronze and through to red. Because of its excellent technical and aesthetic characteristics teak is used widely for the most diverse applications: construction, building, the nautical industry, furnishings and interiors.
