The Iroko grows in several countries in equatorial Africa. Its wood is fairly hard and resistant and frequently used for floors, in building and for furniture. It has good durability even in damp surroundings and for this reason it is also used widely for ship and maritime building. Iroko is also used for djembe, the cup shaped drums from Africa that today can be found throughout the world.
