European Larch
The Larch is a conifer that belongs to the Pinaceae family. It is the only conifer that is not an evergreen and it loses its leaves in the autumn and winter, leaving the tree quite bare. It has a pyramidal sparse crown and its leaves are needles grouped together in 20/40 units. Larch resin, also called Venetian Turpentine, is used in the paint industry and the bark is also much sought-after for tannin-extraction. Larch wood has a particularly pale radiant colour and it is used in building and in interior design.
