  • doussie africaAfrican Doussié
    African Doussié comes from the tall tree of the same name, widespread in several African regions. It has a reddish brown colour with wide lively grain. It has excellent resistance and good dimensional stability, making it suitable not only for interiors, but also for load-bearing structures and door and window frames.

  • afrormosiaAfrormosia
    Widespread in Africa, Afrormosia is a majestic tree that can reach a height of 45 metres and grow to a diameter of 1.5 metres. Wood is only taken from the very innermost part of the trunk, the heartwood, deep gold in colour. Its clear vibrant grain makes it very popular for flooring and interior surfaces.

    From North America, this variety of cherry has a slightly darker colour with more lively grain pattern than the European variety. This tree can live up to 150/200 years. It has always been known to herbalists for the therapeutic properties of the fruit pedicels.

  • acero americanoAmerican Maple
    The American maple is one of over 200 wild species in the Aceraceae family, trees or bushes that vary in height from 1 to 30 metres. It has pale radiant wood, with delicate vibrant grain.
    It is mainly cultivated in the USA and Canada, where the sweet syrup made from its sap is very popular. The Iroquois Indians in Canada in the past knew all about processing maple sap and still today its elegant multicolour leaf features in the middle of the Canadian flag.

    The Ash tree belongs to the Oleaceae family and is found throughout Europe. It grows quickly and manages to survive even in difficult environmental conditions, such as polluted areas or with very low or very high temperatures. Each part of the Ash tree has therapeutic properties; the fruit, leaves, roots and bark are all used for their anti-rheumatic, anti-arthritic and anti-inflammatory effects. Ash wood has a pale, warm, radiant colour and it is used a lot due to its robustness and flexibility. In the past it was used for farm truck wheels and today it is used for various purposes. In addition to building and interior design, it is in fact used for making musical instruments, tennis rackets and plane propellers.

    The Beech is a tree found throughout Europe. Easy to recognise even at a distance due to the shape of its very wide round crown, the beech tree can grow to a height of 30 metres. Its fruits, beechnuts, give an oil that is only second in goodness to olive oil. It is popular for interior design due to its unusual medium-pale, decidedly orange colour.

    From South America, Cabreuva wood has a warm colour and dark grain. It hardly tarnishes and its appearance becomes more even over time. In addition to flooring, Cabreuva is also used in architecture for outside areas and for artistic crafts.

    Also called wild cherry, the cherry tree comes from the Middle East and various European archaeological findings have shown that humans have used it as a source of nourishment at least since the Bronze Age. Its resin is, like its fruit, very aromatic and widely used as flavouring in industrially produced sweets. The wood has a very pleasant colour, with an unmistakable pinkish hue.

    This is a variety of the Aceraceae family that is mainly cultivated in Europe. It is even paler than American Maple and tends to be less pink. Its beautiful foliage and elegant habit mean it is very popular as an ornamental plant. In addition to interior design, Maple is one of the most widespread woods used for musical instruments: guitars, bow and percussion instruments.

    European Oak

    The Oak is a large tree with a rounded crown that can reach a height of 30 metres. Widespread throughout Europe, the Oak has lobed leaves and its fruits, acorns, are especially loved by wild animals. Oaks can live to be 2000 years old and perhaps for this reason they are the symbol of strength and longevity. The colour of Oak wood is particularly appreciated for its medium sophisticated tone, and it is one of the finest and most widely used for furniture, interiors, window and door frames.

    The European Walnut is a species that originates in Asia, introduced to Europe and America in ancient times. It is a majestic tree, with straight trunk and elegant habit and can live up to 400 years. The Walnut has been well-known and appreciated since ancient times for its fruits of the same name, rich in nourishing and healing properties. It produces a very fine wood used above all for cabinet-making and crafts.

    Also known as the maple of Paranà, Camboré and Bois d’Or, Guatambù is a species of tree that belongs to the Rutaceae family, typical of Southern America. It is a large tree that grows slowly, very resistant to frost and even manages to survive periodic flooding. Its pleasant colour and good mechanical characteristics make it suitable for a wide range of uses in architecture and interior design.

    Also known as the maple of Paranà, Camboré and Bois d’Or, Guatambù is a species of tree that belongs to the Rutaceae family, typical of Southern America. Steaming is a wood treatment carried out using steam or boiling water to eliminate the stresses created during the drying process. It is also used to prepare wood for bending or the production of veneers, to achieve certain colour effects and to eliminate pathogens.

    The Lapacho is an evergreen tree that originates in the rain forest, but it prefers cooler regions, like the mountains of Paraguay, Argentina, Brazil and the mountain areas in Bolivia and Peru. It is a medium-large tree with a very sturdy trunk. The Lapacho is also known by the Portuguese name of Pau d'Arcu, which means "rod for arches". The wood is in fact used for making hunting bows. Ipé Lapacho wood is particularly hard, with a vibrant lively coloured texture and it has excellent durability. It is used in the building sector, above all for door and window frames and floors.

    The Iroko grows in several countries in equatorial Africa. Its wood is fairly hard and resistant and frequently used for floors, in building and for furniture. It has good durability even in damp surroundings and for this reason it is also used widely for ship and maritime building. Iroko is also used for djembe, the cup shaped drums from Africa that today can be found throughout the world.

    The Larch is a conifer that belongs to the Pinaceae family. It is the only conifer that is not an evergreen and it loses its leaves in the autumn and winter, leaving the tree quite bare. It has a pyramidal sparse crown and its leaves are needles grouped together in 20/40 units. Larch resin, also called Venetian Turpentine, is used in the paint industry and the bark is also much sought-after for tannin-extraction. Larch wood has a particularly pale radiant colour and it is used in building and in interior design.

    From Asia, the Merbau is a tree that can grow to a large size and reach a height of 50 m. It has an irregular shaped trunk, up to 1.5 metres in diameter. It is reddish brown in colour, original and very intense. In addition to interior design, it is also widespread in heavy carpentry and in the construction of gyms.

    The Mutenye tree, also known as the Olive Walnut and Olivier Tropical, grows in the tropical-equatorial forests in Africa. Due to its characteristic colour, a very intense pinkish brown, and its technical qualities, it is particularly popular in the furniture industry and for cabinet-making.

    The history of the Olive tree goes hand in hand with that of the oldest Mediterranean civilisations, who cultivated it and enjoyed its fruits, considering it a sacred gift. Still today the Olive is considered to be a symbol of peace and preserves an important role in the European culture and imagination. The Olive tree is unmistakable due to its extremely twisted trunk and its silvery green leaves. Its wood also has totally unique characteristics compared to all the others on the market, like the texture of its grain, as lively as it is varied in colour.

    Panga Panga

    The Panga Panga is a large tree widespread in Africa. The texture of the wood is straight and similar to Wengé, with rings that give it particular flame appearance. The good technical characteristics of this species of wood make it perfect for a wide variety of uses: from shop flooring, to stairs and artistic crafts. Its colour, dark brown with coppery tones, is also popular for interior design.

    Widespread in Europe, the Pear tree can reach 15 metres in height. It has a typical pyramidal shaped crown and shiny oval dark green leaves with serrated edges. Pear wood has been used since the Middle Ages for intaglio and sculpture and until the 20th Century, it was the most widely used material for printing matrixes. Still today it is the wood most used for making flutes and other wind instruments. Due to its pinkish brown colour, it is used in the production of fine furniture.

    The Teak is a tropical tree native to South-East Asia, which came to Europe at the start of the 20th Century when its properties were discovered to be particularly suitable for the ship-building industry. The Teak tree belongs to the Verbenaceae family. It has a majestic trunk, straight and cylindrical, and can grow to 30-40 metres in height. The wood contains an aromatic oily resin that makes it very resistant and disliked by termites. Teak wood has a particularly variegated colour, going from pale yellow to bronze and through to red. Because of its excellent technical and aesthetic characteristics teak is used widely for the most diverse applications: construction, building, the nautical industry, furnishings and interiors.

    Thermo-treated Ash

    The Ash tree belongs to the Oleaceae family and is found throughout Europe. Thermal treatment involves heating the wood to temperatures between 180°C and 230°C. The heat changes the chemical-mechanical properties of the wood, which also takes on new shades of colour. Thermo-treated wood absorbs less moisture, is more stable and is resistant to insect attack, mould and mildew, making it ideal for all exterior uses.

    From South America, the Yesquero is a big tree that can grow to 20/25 metres in height, reaching 2 metres in diameter. The grain is fairly straight with few wavy areas. Yesquero wood goes from pale pink to light brown in colour, but steam treatment stabilises it and gives it a more even shade of medium brown that remains fairly stable over time. It is used in various sectors, for making furniture, door and window frames, in building and for interiors.
